Much like when creating my poster, I also created various different types of double page spreads. For this, I researched what typical film reviews look like in magazines, and then modelled a lot of what I created on them - this was because I wanted something that was quite conventional and looked like a real film review.
This was the first page I created. During the process of doing so, I was never particularly enmoured with it, and couldn't wait to start a new one and build on what I had already done. As a result, much of the process with this one was just figuring out layouts and colour schemes - this did help me later, as I never strayed from the idea of having a black background. I created all my drafts using Microsoft Publisher because it was the only software that gave me the right tools to fully create what I wanted. Therefore, when making this poster was, I spent a lot of time playing around with where to find the right tools and how to do things. I don't particularly like the stars - this was just something that I had previously seen on a few real reviews, and so I didn't end up continuing with this.
For my second page, I decided to do something completely different - and split it up into two pages instead of having text across both of them. This gives it more of a uniform and neat look, but its not particularly conventional. I took inspiration from 'Little White Lies' magazine, because they had done a similar layout. The overall design is quite minimal, so I took the collage that I had previously edited for my poster and used it to make the page look a little more interesting. Additionally, I also included that it was a review at the top - as I thought only the title was a little bare. Overally, I like the page, and would have used it as my final one, had I not thought that it didn't convey the fact that it was reviewing a film, and also didnt insinuate anything about the genre.
After spliting the page with my previous one, I went back making the text spread across both the pages. I also took inspiration from the magazine below, because it was more of the look I wanted - something that was obviosly a film review. The only problem I found with this page was that I used the same image as I had for my poster - and this was something that I wanted to avoid as gerally, reviews offer images of the film that aren't typically on the poster. Out of all the posters I drafted, I like this one the most because it is what I pictured what my film review would look like. Additonally, after creating a double page spread for my AS, I knew that I didn't want it to look like that, because that was for a music magazine, and so I felt that by using the whole page in stead of spliting it up distanced my work from what I had previously done. With my final poster, it was more of a development from my last one, rather than something completely new. This was because I had almost achcieved the look I was going for with it, so saw no point in creating a new one. The few changes I made were; I didn't use the same image as my poster, something that I was wary of doing, and as well as slighlty changing the way the text was placed, before editing some of the margins. As you can see, the page is not radically different, but I feel it offers a better representation of the horror genre becaue of the images used, unlike ones I had previosly made.
